World's Embrace
By Thomas Bell
Prologue
When I
was five, my mom and I were walking down the road to visit her friend
Jane. After a few minutes of walking, we both heard this deafening
roar, and witnessed this bright ball of fire falling from the sky. We
were near enough to feel the heat as it rained down into the houses
two blocks away,the exact
area where Jane lived.
Mom, in
a panic, snatched me into her arms and started running towards the
flames, as if she had a chance to save her friend, or any other
people in the neighborhood. When we got there, all we heard were
screams, screams of the people, who could not escape the flames that
raged through their houses. It was a horrifying sound for a five year
old to hear, and an even worse sight to see.
